Andrea – You are so right about the story staying with you. I love that timeless folktale element about it, both in storyline and in illustration. We first saw it on an edition of Between the Lions (I think the episode was The Good Seed) back in 2002 and we have borrowed it from the library to read and re-read. Thanks for sharing your take and giving us something to think about.

One of my absolute favourite kids books and one of the first we ever read to our son when he was only days old. He’s grown up to have a real love for teaching stories of all kinds and cultures and I think much of it came from sharing stories like this one with him.
