Can you guess who made this Love of Reading illustration?

Love of Reading - Oliver JeffersWe continue to receive fantastic illustrations for our Love of Reading Gallery, and have even spied a sneak preview of a work in progress by one illustrator. Yesterday, we were surprised when we received the illustration that appears at the right of this post. Can you guess who created it?

Don’t forget to stop in to our Love of Reading Gallery to see the great artwork that’s on display for everyone to enjoy.

Hmmm…would that be Melissa Sweet? She’s one of my favorites (I’m getting a post ready on Carmine; Milly, who loves Little Red Riding Hood, was lucky enough to get a signed copy for her birthday).

All of the logos look wonderful, by the way!

Hey Anamaria!

You are *so* right — it really does look Melissa-Sweetish! I never noticed the similarity (but I absolutely love both illustrators).

If you give up, check the gallery where all illustrations are credited to their creators…

It’s Oliver Jeffers! We love him, too, so that’s okay! Maybe I’ll get the kids to contribute something to the gallery; “Just one more book…” is a common refrain at our house, too. Thanks!

I was going to guess Petra Mathers. I like this contest idea, by the way. A great way of getting people to consider the similarities and differences between their favorite illustrators.

oooooh! Petra Mathers! Another member of our JOMB list of dream guests. We do keep our fingers crossed.

We did receive a submission from another longstanding member of our dream guest list yesterday. No news yet as to whether we’ll get the chat but we’re ever optimistic.

It looks so much like the art of my friend Gary Baseman (Cranium (sp??) board games) but it’s not, it’s the equally talented “Incredible book eating illustrator” Oliver Jeffers!!!!!
WOW, you are getting amazing entries, not to mention the wonderful art that all the kids are sending in!
It’s going to be awfully hard to make a decision, good luck.
