Interview with Christine Tripp

Monday, November 26, 2007.

Christine Tripp and her dog, JakeI’d always thought the children’s book publishing industry demanded its community to be based in obvious big cities like New York, Toronto and London so it’s exciting to find out that there are amazing children’s book authors and illustrators living in and around Ottawa, Canada, the hometown of Just One More Book!. In fact, locals including Rachna Gilmore, Ben Hodson and Andree Poulin have all been guests of our show.

Two weeks ago we met another homegrown talent when we were joined for our coffee and recording routine by illustrator Christine Tripp. On this edition of Just One More Book! Ms. Tripp talks about how technology has made it possible for her to work in Ottawa, working with Art Directors and some of the taboos in children’s book illustrations.

I really enjoyed this interview. It was very personable and informative. There was good networking advice and I it was interesting to hear about some of the taboos.

John, as a brilliant author and illustrator of many, many, many books, you hardly need information about the business of illustration but thanks, your a sweet heart!
