A retro, dog-based response to the pretty princess books that currently abound, Poodlena tells the story of a pampered pink poodle who learns that there’s more to life than looking perfect.

This book taught me a lesson about not teaching lessons!

my favorite show thus far! i love how you unpacked the way the text was positioning you while at the same time realizing how you were positioning poodlena…it’s all in understanding how these perspectives play out making us much more informed readers. of course the best part is you do all this and still truly enjoy the book :-). i also think the girls’ response is powerful…they know so much more than we think don’t they? my two year old amazes me all the time.

happy morning…
